Megan Wellford Grinder specializes in portraits of children and adults working primarily in oil on canvas or linen. Among other achievements, she has painted commissions for the
Hutchison
School in Memphis, TN and private families. She possesses the rare ability to paint accurate portraits which capture the personality of the subject on the canvas.
Megan received her formal training at
Princeton
University, graduating with honors with a degree in Visual Arts and Art History in 1995. While at
Princeton, she participated in a group show in 1994 and presented her senior thesis show in 1995. Megan also attended the
Marchutz
School in
Aix-en-Provence,
France, studying painting and drawing in the
school of
Paul Cézanne, and she has attended several portraiture seminars with the nationally recognized portrait artist, Daniel Greene. Megan is a native Memphian and graduated from the
Hutchison
School in 1991.
Since returning to
Memphis in 1997, Megan has worked primarily as a portrait artist specializing in commissioned oil portraits of both children and adults and even family pets. In addition to portraits, Megan paints other works by commission and is developing a show of landscapes for exhibition in 2007.
Megan enjoys collecting contemporary art from local and regional artists and antiques at her home with her husband and two children.
